Seasons
Tanzania has two main dry seasons, from June to October and December to February, which are ideal times for climbing Kilimanjaro or going on safari.
Visa and Immigration
A standard Tanzanian tourist visa is valid for up to 90 days and costs US$50. US citizens must purchase a multiple-entry visa for US$100. Nationals from over 50 countries, including South Africa, Kenya, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, India, Brazil, and Turkey, do not require a visa.
Health and Safety
It's safe to climb Kilimanjaro when you travel with a reputable tour operator who prioritizes your health and safety. The biggest issue is the extreme altitude (please read Kilimanjaro altitude sickness). Make sure your travel insurance covers hiking up to 6,000 m above sea level.
